I must be honest. I never heard about this place before. What a mistake! Just a few step away from the italian border this lake is across the Hautes-Alpes and the Alpes de Haute Provence district in South France.
Judging from the photos I took in a sunny, but normal spring day, the water’s colours you can find are absolutely astonishing. Having the time to drive around the lake, stop at the observatory built close at the dyke. It’s a perfect place to realise what human being can build.
Apparently this is one of the three most important water reserve in Europe, and one of the biggest stone dyke ever built. Just across the enormous wall there is the electric power plant. There is no need to mention how cool is drive around by motorbike. Roads are clean and in a optimal condition.
