Segesta is a small village located in the north-west part of Sicily under the Trapani province. In august 2012 that I had a 3 weeks tour of this lovely region. Segesta and its temples were one of my first stops after arriving on the island.
I was not still used to hot temperature and rough roads, but this is place is a must. There is a very nice landscape you can get from amphitheater which is part of the archeological site. I remember there is a shuttle service to reach the highest point, but if you go for a walk it only take 10 minutes.
In the map below you can have an idea of the trip if you start from Palermo.
